I've Been Busy

I haven't been able to keep up with my posting here. May has been a busy month, and June will be too.
But here is a pictorial of what has been going on.

Our Combined Church choir was invited to do the 5:30pm mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral on May 12, 2012.  The combined choirs were the English Choir, the Spanish Choir and the Children's Choir.  It went very well and our Choir Director (far right) was very pleased with how we did.

On May 19, 2012, I went to an art festival at St. Peter's Church in the Bronx.  I went with my friend Liz and we met a lot of fabulous artists and got to view some of their works.

On May 20, 2012, our church had a bake sale.  We had to offset the cost of the trip to St. Patrick's Cathedral.  I'm not sure how much money we made but it was a couple of hundred bucks.  This is a picture of my dear friend Liz and my daughter.

On May 24, 2012, My daughter made her Confirmation.  She was Confirmed Clare (of Assissi). Doesn't she look beautiful?

She and her fellow classmates were confirmed by Edward Cardinal Egan Archbishop Emeritus of New York.  How cool is that?

There were 51 Confirmindi.  You have to love this shot.  Everyone was in the way and I managed to stand on the bench, lift this over my head and snap.  Without looking through the viewfinder.  Not bad if I do say so myself.

It wasn't all hard work.  We got to have some fun.  Clarissa learned how to skate this weekend. we went to Central Park and she picked it up right away.  She is ready for the roller derby.

Today I was actually a little bored. So I decided to go to St. Peter's Church cemetery to take some pictures and was pleased to see so many American Flags at the headstones of our departed soldiers.  This particular one was for a soldier from World War 1.

Insanity

http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/insanity.do

Tomorrow I start the Insanity workout.  The hardest exercise program ever put on DVD. If I stop blogging it is because I've died! LOL!

Currently - 196.5  at 25.5 body fat.

This makes me overweight.  The cut off for average body fat is 24.

This program is a 60 day program.  I may have to go for two rounds.

I took before pictures of myself, which I will not post here because they look AWFUL! I didn't realize how bad I looked.

I'll be mentioning this from time to time. I am hoping I will make it to day 60.

Kindle / Nook Personal Challenge

Since May has already started and I have some books coming, I will do this one in June.

I have so many books downloaded to my Kindle and Nook that I haven't read.  Between borrowing them from the library in physical form or e-book form, I have not read them.  So for the month of June, I'm going to read only books from e-readers queue.

I keep downloading a bunch of free books on my Kindle that look good but haven't got to them. I'm always saying Later Later After This After That.  Even Audio books are getting in the way, but for the whole month of June, I will only be e reader books.  I might only get to read 4 (one a week) but it will be 4 more I can cross of the list.

The Avengers

This was a fantastic movie.  I had liked all the Marvel Comic movies but to see them together in one film was a treat.  I couldn't imagine how they would work all of these different personalities and skill sets together in one film.  But they got it to work.  And in usual Marvel Comic format, stay until after the credits role.  There will be a sequel.  No need to give away the film. Good guys vs. Bad guys.  Lots of butt kicking in between.

Now what I liked about this film was all the eye candy.  All these good looking men in one film would give a heart attack to anyone.

Here we have Robert Downey Jr. as Ironman.

A Very Pretty Chris Hemsworth as Thor

The very rugged Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk

The pretty face of Chris Pine

And who ever said villains weren't sexy never met LOKI

Tom Hiddleston - bad never looked so good!!!

Nunez/Gonzalez Donations

Jaslyn Gonzalez was a friend of my daughter.  She was killed Sunday in an Automobile accident along with her mother, aunt, 2 cousins and grandparents.  That was 7 people all together.  Jaslyn's father and uncle are left with having to bury all seven family members.  There are two simultanious donations going on. The easiest one to donate to is online.

The Jonel Gonzalez Support Fund

Jonel is the brother of Jaslyn. He attends Pace University and his 'brothers' started this fund to help pay for the funeral costs which will exceed $100,000.  Jaslyn's father, Juan Gonzalez's taxi driving 'brothers' have also started a donation

The wakes will be held Thursday at Ortiz Funeral home on Westchester Avenue in the Bronx. The funerals will be held at St. Raymond's Church on Friday at 9:45am.  They've closed the school that day so the children can attend.

Rest in peace to Maria Gonzalez, Maria Nunez, Jacob, Ana, Jaslyn, Naily and Marlyn.
