So far I've read 4 books this year. My goal is 85. All of these books were non-fiction. I had promised myself that I would not be reading a lot of non-fiction this year, but all I've read were non-fiction books.

I've watched 21 movies so far this year. 3 Foreign films 2 Theater Movies 7 Documentaries 1 Classic film 7 Recent films 1 80s film Seems like I am being well rounded. I'm not trying to do it, but it is good to see I am. Although I am missing a period piece, but I've been watching "Downton Abbey-Season 2" which of course is amazingly good. |

Documentaries I've watched on SPRWORD
Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days - This film followed a group of Type 2 and Type 1 Diabetics through a 30 Day Raw Vegan Diet at a spa. One by one we watch how this diet transforms their health and life.
Thin - This film follows a group of young women who have eating disorders. It is filmed at Renfrew Center in Florida. A deep dark look into the mind of an anorexic and bulimic. This film takes us from their entry into the facility until they are sent home. We get to see what happens behind these closed doors and their closed doors.
God on the Brain - This was about how people with frontal lobe disorders seem to be more prone to believing they are having religious experiences. They spoke of how some saints of the past may have suffered from this as well as people of today.
Secrets of the Occult - This film was about how the Occult was once popular and then lost its charm during the witch hunts but found its resurgence again in the 1960s. It goes into the lives of Aleister Crowley and Madame Blavatsky.

Cool Documentary Link
I found a cool site that has a bunch of documentaries to watch free on-line. Some of these are not available to watch on Amazon or Netflix. Check it out.

Today was W1D2 of my Couch to 5K challenge (C25K). The running part isn't as awful as I thought it would be, however I am going slow. Tomorrow is a rest day. I also added some weights. It is tough to get to the machines, but I managed to get on.
I've only finished one book so far this month. And it was a book I started last year. But I'm reading!

5K
Other than reading more books and watching more movies, I am planning to do some other stuff.
I am once again training to run my 1st 5K. I started this about 3 years ago, but never got that far. I had to quit the gym because I didn't have the funds. But I joined another gym, a less expensive one, therefore, I am attempting to do this again. I would like to be able to run and finish my first 5K by spring. I was training outdoors, but now winter has finally decided to rear it's ugly head, so indoor training is probably best.
I've also cut back on my wheat consumption. I need to lose this weight. Even when I work out, my belly remains, so I want to see if removing most wheat will improve this.
In the process I would like to lose some weight. My ideal amount of weight would be 40 pounds, but I will be happy with 30.
This is not a New Years resolution. I wanted to start this in October, but I feel it is futile during the last 3 months of the year as there are holidays that get in the way.
So I went to sign up for the gym today, here is a conversation I had with the fitness instructor.
Fitness Instructor: What are your fitness goals?
Me: I am training for a 5K
Fitness Instructor: *Blank Look*
Me: It is a race....
Fitness Instructor: Ohhhh...
I'm a little scared. I know some people don't know what a 5K is, but I would hope that someone in the fitness industry who works in a gym might have at least a working knowledge of some things. But whatever, she's not training me.

Every year I plan to read more of this type or watch more of that type. But this year I just did what I felt. I found it to be a very interesting look at my habits and tastes during certain seasons.
Other than Christmas and Halloween where I did some challenges, I have to say I have very diverse habits. Let's see what 2012 brings.
